She was innate within Modesto, California, and she was raised in the area along with ii sisters by her farmsteading parents. Their parents intended for completely troika youngsters to attend college, & Jo graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Southern California in 1963. She worked as a teacher for long dozen years, beginning within Bell, California.

Around 1969 she had the religious conversion & she moved to New Orleans to join the Sisters of Mount Carmel, the Catholic order of instructors. She left the sequentially fallowing deuce-ace years, upright prior to she would own taken her vows to be a nun. When within Just released Orleans she wrote heavy & too worked as an creative person, painting humans's pets. By 1983 she decided to move to Portland, Oregon.

In the period of her career she wrote 35 novels & numbers of short stories. Her works sold on top the million copies.

At a age of 57 she was diagnosed by using multiple myeloma, or cancer of the bone marrow, and passed out of her problem one and a half late. When you took her stay within the hospital she continued writing, completing the fully novel & half of the previous book in the trilogy.

She was survived by her mother Bessie Clayton, & her sisters Penn Brumm & Pamela Larsen.
